L'azienda produttrice avrebbe reciso il contratto con l'Italia perché violati termini di licenza. Paragon utilizza una tecnologia in grado di spiare nei telefoni di chiunque, e può essere utilizzata unicamente da paesi democratici per perseguite criminali internazionali quali terroristi o trafficanti di droga, ma invece sarebbe stata usata per prendere di mira 90 attivisti e membri della società civile nel mondo fra cui 7 in Italia. Fra i 7 italiani spiati il direttore di Fanpage Francesco Cancellato è stato il primo a riferire di avere ricevuto notifica da WhatsApp di un attacco al suo dispositivo. Ieri si è scoperto che anche Luca Casarini, fondatore e capomissione di Mediterranea Saving Human era stato spiato. Preciso che questo software può essere acquistato solo dai governi che hanno accordi con la società Paragon Solutions.
