Returned to baseline on both creatinine & cystatin-c.

(Also, thank goodness for his nephrologist placing the lab order on a rush!)

The relief is indescribable! I will now breathe, thank you very much.

Cystatin C up (1.56 to 1.88), all other markers stable. Creatinine .61. 4’2” almost 7yo male w/ reflux nephropathy (unilateral scarring).

No protein in urine. (4mg/dL)
Electrolytes fine.
Good growth.
Well hydrated daily.
BP controlled.

Nephrologist OOO til Friday. Ugh.

Bright spot amidst the doom: 5yo’s team of specialists agree he is STABLE. And doing WELL.

Uroflow normal.
Kidneys are stable.
Left kidney is NOT showing any signs of increased damage. 🙌
eGFR stable.
All other metrics? You guessed it: STABLE!!!

In the lead up, we talked about what to expect — anticipating he’d be nervous.

Nope. Turns out the “bodily functions are top comedy” phase is working in our favor. 🤪🤣

Margin of error on pediatric kidney ultrasound measurements over time? E.g. 4 sequential U/S lengths within 18 months… is 0.5cm (decrease) within margin of error?

5yo had a decent nephrology visit this week. He’s stable, he can go to day camp this summer… which is good. It’s always hard when his kidneys don’t show significant growth, but I’m grateful for the relative normalcy we have for the time being. ❤️ #pediatricckd #nephrology
