3.1" of wet heavy snow accumulated today here at the house. A fair bit melted also so the overall moisture content should be really nice! Bigger winners for the moisture was the eastern half of the Panhandle. Lesser amounts up north and west. #txwx #phwx #snow
One photo taken at 5PM the other taken 40 minutes later. Guess we are going to miss the sunset this evening. #blowingdust #txwx #phwx
Tons of dust moving through the Texas panhandle this evening. Visibility below 1 mile is being observed in several locations. To think we get to do this all over again tomorrow. #txwx #phwx #blowingdust #highwinds
Mpemba effect activated here in Amarillo, Texas. Temperature is 5 degrees and dropping. We should be around 5 below 0 in the morning. This little trick should work better tomorrow morning. #txwx #phwx #coldweather
Given temperatures are already 10 degrees colder than any model guidance suggests, I have tweaked our wind chills a bit for tomorrow morning. Big oof #extremecold #txwx #phwx
Nice localized snow event for the north Texas Panhandle last night. 1 to 3 inches observed from Union county south and east towards Dumas.
A little bonus snow around Canyon too. #txwx #phwx #nmwx #okwx #snow
Polar vortex split this week will have repercussions next week. Only a few barbed wire fences to stop the cold air from reaching Texas. Amarillo below 0Β°F Wednesday morning? Wind chills possible 20 to 30 below zero. #txwx #okwx #nmwx #arcticblast #phwx #frigidtemps
Instability + Moisture + Temperatures in the 30s = Rain, then hail, then graupel, then snow.

Expect at least a glanced blow of arctic air next week here in the panhandles. Confidence is high in below normal temperatures but there is a fair bit of uncertainty on if we have any moisture to talk about next week locally. Stay tuned.

Infographic - Title Donβt Forget Your Pets 4 bullet points Paw print icon - Even with a natural fur coat, winter can be deadly for your pets unless proper care is given. House icon with a heart in the center - Keep them warm and dry, and indoors when ever possible. Dog bowl icon - Provide plenty of food and water. Dehydration is especially dangerous in winter. Puppy icon - When outside keep them bundled up. Limit outside time, and thoroughly clean (including paws) when bringing them in. From NWS Amarillo - When cold weather moves over the Southern Plains, do not forget your pets outside in the frigid winter air! Always make sure they have a warm, dry place to rest with plenty of food and water. #phwx #okwx #okmesonet
