In years of playing pinochle in real life I have never seen a double run, but in this pinochle game app I managed to pass the right cards to my partner to get one.

A double deck pinochle box made by the Congress Playing Card company in the 1950s/60s. The case is in green velvet and has a slide-out drawer with two pinochle decks inside. Each deck features a different kitten picture, and the top of the box shows what the decks each look like. On the left-hand side is a fluffy orange kitten sitting on blue shag carpet with a bright blue background. On the right-hand side is a grey tabby kitten on hardwood with a bright yellow background. Both are based on images by the photographer Walter Chandoha who was famous for his pictures of cats which were frequently mass produced.

The photo is being photobombed by my real-life ginger cat who is looking on/ sniffing the cards. In the game of pinochle, the jack of diamonds and queen of spades is a point combination called a pinochle. I don't know why, it just is.
For today's #caturday I am sharing a picture of a circa 1950s #pinochle deck box and cards made by Congress Playing Cards. Found at a garage sale. Based on the image style, I believe these are based on photos taken by Walter Chandoha. Is pinochle anyone else's family card game?
