I also love how George is shown in nonanthro mode as he discovers that Mabel is a "fake animal". What's more poignant than a beaver getting his heart broken? A beaver who gets his heart broken and can only make sad little beaver noises about it.

Anthro mode - how the animals see each other, speaking intelligibly and having expressive eyes.
Nonanthro mode - how animals are seen by humans, with little beady black eyes.

At the Downtown Monster Shop, Rachel (currently in the form of a four-armed stork) has turned Mabel into a beaver. Rachel says, "Hopping technology? Sounds a bit primitive." Mabel says, "OMG! This is amazing! And I can stay like this as long as I want? No risk of brain damage?"
