In the lore of my Pokemon Gijinka #PKG world Mew used to be something like a giant, multi-tailed cat yokai thing, taking inspiration from kitsune, bakeneko, and nekomata.
The various Pokemon Types got their abilities from Mew, who would lose a tail & shrink each time. Now they're tail-less & smol.
