Scotties were the most popular dog breed in the US in the 1930s at least partially due to President Roosevelt's dog Fala, and of course Toto from the Wizard of Oz. A charming vintage 1930s 40s handmade reverse carved and painted lucite Scottie Dog design brooch. Entirely handmade Scottie Dog brooch design that is one of the most recognizable designs of its time in Bakelite and Lucite jewelry from that era! In the 1930s there were two extremely famous Scotties: Fala the First Dog belonging to President Roosevelt, and Toto who went with Dorothy to see the Wizard of Oz. Measures 3" tall by 2-7/8" wide. A painted yellow glass 'eye'! Unmarked as expected and as was the norm for most American plastic jewelry of the period, along with an inset pin mechanism at back also as expected. Excellent vintage condition.

A slinky vintage 1930s 40s reverse hand-carved and painted googly-eyed lucite Alley Cat design brooch. Whimsical and wonderful design! He's thin and scrappy, ready for a fight for the attentions of his lady love or his next meal! Google eyes, and hand painted whiskers mouth and tongue on his face, and painted black 'claws' on his feet! One of the cutest of the lucite brooches from the period in my opinion. Measures 3" tall by 1.75" wide. Unmarked. Inset pinback as expected with genuine lucite jewelry of the period. Excellent vintage condition.
