An Unusual Find We worked really hard today, So was fired up to tackle the heap of dumped waste in the middle of Meanwhile 2. We also had two extra helpers - Jason from Rubbish Walks and Ro a new Guerrilla Gardener. This is a sample of what we faced, a complete jumble of plastic, brick, wood, weed supressing membrain and even christmas decorations.

A tiny bird made us happy! Today we worked without coats for the first time this year and the sun shone on us as we worked. There was a dispiriting amount of garbage to pick up, but once that was done it was done and we could move onto more enjoyable things. I took the time to walk around the site to find something beautiful, and I was not disappointed.

Armed and dangerous Today we arrived, sharp tools to the ready, with a mission. It is February, it is time to prune buddleias. These are all self-sown and have never been pruned, so they were very overgrown. These are the two we started with, we tidied them up last summer so that they formed an arch, so with saws, loppers and secateurs we got started.

An extra pair of hands makes all the difference Yesterday Storm Chandra hurled herself across the country and it rained all day. The eastern part of the country suffered less than the west; today was bright and sunny and cold. Ja from Rubbish Walks was helping us again. First we clear the ground of dead organic material. That must have been some party! I wonder what cocktails were being made. I hope they had fun....... (that black cannon-ball is actually a coconut). We recycled the bottles, and I will take the vape to the recycling centre next time I go. To be fair, we did not come to the garden last week as there was heavy rain all day - and since we started looking after the garden this was the first time we had not come because of rain.

Now we are getting somewhere Four of us working in the garden - two painting and two creating a flower bed. The weather was lovely but there was a storm forecast for the next day. How lovely does the name look? We are so happy with it. The paint was mostly recycled which pleased us. At the other side of the garden a flower bed was emerging - we even wrestled some bulbs into the ground.

A lovely late summer afternoon There is something so special about warm sunny afternoons in September, they are so precious as the colder days move towards us. Three of us in the garden, as always we started on the rubbish which does not seem to decrease - the depressing debris of 21st century life. We decided we would continue with the pruning and the first item on the agenda was to 'find' the arch that was created in the spring.
