The focus of the piece involves Jack with his pistol drawn, standing at the apex of a triangle formation completed by Will and Elizabeth at the bottom corners. The sides of the triangle is shaped Will and Elizabeth propping a sword and musket on their shoulders. For the base, Will reaches towards Elizabeth with his outstretched, cut hand. Lines of blood fall into the sea water surrounding them. Elizabeth's left, bandaged hand touches Will's fingertips, sealing their connection. A noose dangles from Jack's hand down the center of their triangle formation, through Elizabeth's right hand, and dips into a reflection of the moon, mixed with Will's blood. The reflection mirrors the sun at the top of the poster. In the upper corners of the poster, Barbossa and Norrington mirror each other in a 'face off' over their respective flagships and banners. Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner dance a formal minuette-like dance, dressed in finer, matching outfits. Elizabeth has tropical flowers in her hair, most notably an orange tropical hibiscus and the blossom of the lignum vitae tree. These flowers and their colors are worked into the patterns of her dress. Will has a matching lilac colored ribbon queuing his hair and orange breeches to tie his outfit to Elizabeth's. Aside from a little bit of brocade at the hems of his coat, his outfit is simpler but still much nicer than the rags he wore in the first movie.
Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann dance a more energetic jig or reel together, dressed in lower-class clothing. Will is mostly in greys, but his waistcoat is subdued green and his socks a pale blue--much nicer than his outfit in the first movie, but still not wealthy by a long shot. Elizabeth is dressed in an orange petticoat, and is wearing a floral, quilted jumps instead of an outfit with boned stays. She's also wearing men's shoes--dressing for a humbler sort of comfort than in the first movie.

The crew of the Black Pearl throw a Christmas party 10 years after P3 (P4 and P5 do not exist). There's a "Christmas Tree" shaped chandelier made from candles burning inside empty rum bottles, and are reveling to the music of a flute and fiddle. Jack sits on the table in front of the Black Pearl's helm and waves a bottle of rum in excitement at the goings on. Anamaria slides down the rail to the main deck. Barbossa watches quietly from behind Jack, monkey on his shoulder. On the main deck, Bootstrap Bill tries to keep his grandson Henry occupied with the rum bottle Christmas tree, but the ten year old is distracted--and slightly mortified--by his parents, Will and Elizabeth, kissing under the mistletoe near the main cabin doors. Cotton and Marty dance together in the middle of the deck. Near the rail, Scarlett, Giselle and Gibbs cheer on the dancing and debate joining in. All the way aft, Ragetti and Pintel scheme to ring the ship's bell. A starry sky sparkles above.

Elizabeth Swann stands in glassy rolling waves that come up to her hips. She is dressed in the plum colored dress Barbossa made her wear in Curse of the Black Pearl, and the Aztec medallion. She is propping up a musket in her bandaged left hand. It is night, and the star sky above, an arch formed by different phases of the moon frames her, with an image of the Aztec coin's skull growing more visible as the moon reaches its full phase at the arch's zenith.
Will Turner crouches in a battle-ready position aboard a sinking ship--a hole in the ship's hull is behind him, allowing the sea to flood the deck. He is dressed in his commoner's outfit from Curse of the Black Pearl, with his hair wild and loose in the wind. With his bandaged left hand he is clutching a fallen jolly roger, while with his right he brandishes a cutlass. Under the water a chain has wrapped around his right ankle. One part of the chain goes up and out of the water to attach to giant Aztec medallion in the sky, reminiscent of the sun. The other end of the chain snakes around the leg of his shadow, before wrapping around a fallen cannon. However his shadow doesn't match his form, wearing boots and a coat. The cannon teeters precariously over a large hole in the deck, calling back to the tale of Will's father, Bootstrap Bill, being sent to Davy Jones locker--a fate that Will will eventually meet in his own way as well.
Jack Sparrow stands upon the spar of a ship, in a callback to the pose of his entrance in Curse of the Black Pearl. Behind him the seas are cast in orange, golds and yellows of sunset, and his head is framed by a sun that is designed like his namesake tattoo, with his own form standing in the place where the bird should be.
Commodore James Norrington stands atop Fort Charles, with his one foot propped up on the parapet. Directly behind him billows the Navy's Union Jack. Above him hangs a line of nooses labeled "Pirates Ye Be Warned," referring to his personal mission to rid the seas of piracy. He brandishes the ceremonial sword made by Will Turner. In the distance behind him, the Dauntless chases the Black Pearl into the beginnings of a storm, foreshadowing his choice to sail after Jack Sparrow into a hurricane and upend his own life.
