One of the few vases I own is this fantastic sculptural totem by Ryan Myers. I love the juxtaposition of its attitude against fresh spring blooms

Bulbs are starting to bloom. Time to put some #handmadepottery vessels to work. I rarely use an actual "vase" as a vase. Usually pitchers... But today for just a few blooms it's an

I've always loved the carving of Erika at Roundtrip Clayworks but trying very hard to stick to my #nomoremugs rule. An opportunity to buy the growler & support WNC fundraising was pretty perfect.
Thanks Companion Gallery & Erika for helping out & add to my #potterycollection at the same time.
A tall, narrow bottle-shaped vase sits on a wooden cabinet. It is dark clay with a coating of light yellow, textured slip over all but the fingerprints at the very bottom. It sits against a white wall with a signed Broadway poster for the show “Betrayal” behind it and a chunk of red super seven mineral/gem beside it.
#potterycollection day 7 is this fantastic @stevetheberge.bsky.social bottle vase in with a matte yellow textured slip. This came from the Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail 2024 and was so high up in the rafters of his studio, I almost missed it!

A hand holds a mug in front of a painting. The painting in the background is tan with colorful medicine-shaped bursts of yellow, teal, and red. The mug held in front is white porcelain, taller than it is wide, with an organic curvy shape at the base and almost straight walls above. The handle is tight to the mug with a dent at the top for finger fit. On the mug is a line drawing of a large, cartoonized bunny. Its top half is red and its bottom half is blue. It is chasing a lively bird not depicted in the photo but shown in the second.

#potterycollection day 6 is one of my top 5 most-used cups, this adorable @ayumihorie.com mug. Who doesn’t want to spend their mornings with an adorably cuddly bunny?

A wheelthrown cup is held against a white wall in a bath of dappled sun. The cup is taller than it is wide and has a ridge near the pedestal foot and near the middle of the cup. It flares slightly at the tip of the it is decorated in black petal shapes of various sizes that have been pulled to a hazy drippiness by a light spring green glaze. The glaze has pooled at the ridges, and the black areas sparkle. Cup is by artist Dallas Wooten.
#potterycollection day 5, Dallas Wooten cup. Dallas uses translucent porcelain that shimmers in the sun. The surface design is abstracted flower petals with hazy edges where the glaze pulls them. Who else has a collection for all of us #potterylovers to drool over?

What better way to share #potterycollection day 4 than to unbox my latest acquisition with you all?!? @clayakar.bsky.social (my favorite gallery and the source of A LOT of my purchases) delivered this Kenyon Hansen beauty tonight! 😍

Soda-fired entree bowl in light clay by Ben Eberle. Glazed in a shino that breaks in grays and peaches. Altered with sharp, smooth spiraled lines. Has a pedestal foot.
#potterycollection day 3 (strap in cuz I have about 200 more days!) Bowl by Ben Eberle. I’m a sucker for a re-fire soda piece. If you have one, I will always find it. The curves in this pot are sublime, and Ben’s work is delightfully thin.

A small wood-fired teacup with purple flame path tones and yellow/green accents. Has a flared shape reminiscent of Japanese tea wares and is slightly warped into an oval.
I almost forgot day 2 of my #potterycollection posts! Today’s piece is by @beckpots.bsky.social and is the most perfectly-sized flared teacup. It’s slightly oval, and the purple/yellow woodfire tones and feldspar inclusions are to die for.

A tiny yellow pottery mug. It is textured in a way that looks like tufted fabric. Made by Kyla Toomey.
Do all potters have big pottery collections? I do, and I thought it might be fun to share some with the fellow clay lovers. So, my inaugural #potterycollection post is my newest addition, a teenie tiny Kyla Toomey. I love small cups for tea!
