In the original design of Hieronymus Bosch’s Haywain triptych, the child reached for her hay (to steal it).
For unknown reasons, this detail wasn’t used in the final painting.

A Dutch translation was from ~1425.
The Latin text became a beloved text of Modern Devotion.
