A crochet mandala in a full ROYGBIV rainbow lies on a black desktop. This pattern is so close to being complete! Yay! The center of this pattern is a swirling sunburst and at the edge there are some fans to fill space as the sunburst arms come to points. I’m really taken with the use of negative space in this pattern from the black spaces that define the sunburst to the windows and Vs I’ve made within the sunburst to the huge Vs that define the fans so well. Love it. Did not expect it to turn out like this.

A close-up on the purple fan edge of my most-recent crochet mandala that will become a gay pride parasol. This yarn is 100% cotton, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified for sustainable practices through the growing, harvesting, processing, and dyeing processes.

So very nearly done! I’ll definitely finish this one tonight, but may not get it on a frame until tomorrow.

I’m amazed at how well this pattern worked out because I made so much of it up on the fly. The negative space in this one fascinates me.
