In November we travelled to #NewYork to attend #psynom24 @psychonomicsociety.bsky.social ociety.bsky.social and the Satellite event organized by @Womenincogsci.
They hosted a panel full of real-life experiences on how to get by in the academic career.
Thanks @maravermj for being our eyes there!
Although I saw a lot of great research at #psynom24, this will be my last post about what I saw. I enjoyed Talk 264 by Wolfe et al. 1/3
Up next in my series of posts about research I saw at #psynom24 is Talk 351 by Mason & Geller, who examined a pedagogical technique to reduce student misconceptions about scientific concepts. 1/4
Up next in my series of posts about research I saw at #psynom24 is Poster 1078 by Bowes and Fazio who surveyed almost 3000 US adults. 772 of them were classified as conspiracy theorists (>=75 %ile on measure) and 1518 were classified as non (<=50 %ile). 1/3
Up next in my series of posts about research I saw at #psynom24 is Talk 310 by Lewandowsky et al., who tried to reconcile the fact that Trump lied a lot during his first presidency but polls show that some people consider him honest. 1/4
Up next in my series of posts about research I saw at #psynom24 is Poster 3017 by Hodgetts et al., who asked participants to detect any incidents that would require police investigation within a simulated security surveillance task. 1/5
It was an honor to give a talk at the @psychonomicsociety.bsky.social 65th Annual Meeting. Equally thrilling was returning to NYC—my favorite city in the world! 🌆✨ Its energy, people, and museums never cease to amaze. 🗽🎨❤️

Up first in my series of posts about research I saw at #psynom24 is Poster 7178 by Kay, who argued that you can't trust data collected via MTurk. Participants got statements that were polar opposites (e.g., I like order, I crave chaos). 1/4
I wanted to see 40 talks and 166 posters at #psynom24 but that was a bit ambitious. I did manage to squeeze in 45 talks and 120 posters though. (The secret to posters is snapping photos to review later in peace & quiet.) 1/2
