A flock of individual life-sized black, white, and grey dove sculptures attached to a red brick wall. The doves are flying right to left (East to West) and North around the corner of the building. There are about 5 birds heading North in the lead, about another 20 approaching the corner, and then 4 more strung out behind, the last at the Southeast corner and above the rest. Above the largest mass of birds there is a carved out Lutheran cross symbol set into the wall. Along the right edge of the picture is a grey sky and the top of a bare tree.

Jefferson School leader outlines ‘Swords into Plowshares’ plan to repurpose melted Robert E. Lee bronze Andrea Douglas of the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center presented three finalist designs that would reuse bronze from the melted Robert E. Lee statue in distributed public artworks; the project will enter a community engagement phase and finalists are expected to be announced on July 10.

The Swords into Plowshares project is transforming the bronze from the melted Robert E. Lee statue into powerful public art, and the community is invited to shape its future!
