Her other hand balances an oblong object on a pedestal on her thigh, only her index finger and thumb holding on to it. The background is dominated by a stout column of stone held together by white paste; on it is thrown a shadow of the statue as seen from a different angle: the sun creates a shadow that turns this youthful young woman into an older woman, tired and weary from decades of life. (Author note: I'm someone who often purged older photos with impunity as I improved. So it says something that this is one of those that survived 12 years of purges.)

Despite the damage to her exterior, the statue's face maintains a kind of calm, looking off to the side, just above and to the left of the viewer. Behind her, green leaves - already showing the tell-tale colours of autumn in a leaf here and another there - dominate the expanse of the winter-blue sky with nary a cloud in sight.
