The Walkie Talkie at night, seen across the Thames. The building, whose proper name is 20 Fenchurch Street, was completed in 2014 and was designed by architect Rafael Vinoly.

20 Fenchurch Street, an inverted 40-storey tall building which gains volume and floor area as it reaches its curved dome, following the shape of a Nokia handset with a top-heavy shape.

The day is overcast and the building is prominent on the skyline above a few low rise buildings in the lower foreground. The photo has been taken from the South Bank, from South-West of 20 Fenchurch Street which is located in the City of London.

My photo focuses on the building as the main subject, showing the building under construction, before any of the roof frame had been installed onto the topmost floor of the SkyGarden, which when completed was enclosed by the curved roof, shown to be structurally complete.

The glass panel installation is complete up to 5 levels below the highest floor. 3 luffing-jib tower cranes stand clustered atop the central concrete core, which is protruding 3 storeys above the top floor. A construction elevator hoist has been built into the southern facade, the curviest elevation of the building.

The west elevation features 34 vertical vertical white painted aluminium fins, spaced evenly between the curving northern and southern facade. These have been installed all the way up to the top of the cladding, where half of the fins have been installed on the highest glazed floor.
