A single stem of a wild aster with dry red-brown leaves clinging to the stem and a poof of seed heads- some bare and starry, some still dressed in light fluffy seeds, and the whole broad cluster carries a bit of powder snow on the centre top. The background is snow, the lower half in sun with slight granular blue shadows, the top in dark blue shade- accentuating the duality of Solstice: light and dark. The edges are blurred and a white vignette applied to emphasize the brightening that follows the Winter Solstice. A pale gold colour has been picked up from the seed heads and used for a thin border around the image, and lettering that says Happy Solstice in loose script font.
