The photograph depicts two rows of houses facing each other along a cobblestone street. The half-timbered houses are lovingly preserved and well-maintained, originating from the medieval period. The street stretches from the foreground into the background, disappearing around a right-hand bend. The small houses, with their compact roofs, immediately convey the atmosphere of a medieval street. Some houses towards the back of the image are roofed with slate.

During the Middle Ages, these miners' houses were built in #Goslar. Their residents worked in the #Rammelsberg mine.
