Today I Saw 3/1/25
A gorgeous foggy morning and a walk across the Ravenna pedestrian bridge.

A multitude of tiny orange mushroom caps with a dark center poke up through green moss branches on a felled tree
A view (a bit out of focus) of the underside of one of the tiny mushrooms showing its cream-colored gills and long orange stipe
Bell Omphalina, (Xeromphalina spp, poss Xeromphalina campanella), is a very common mini-mushroom helping fallen trees decay faster in the PNW.

A long tree log covered with moss has fallen across Ravenna Creek. There are fronds of licorice fern sprouting along the trunk. The creek shows a couple of sky reflections, but is mostly brown like the duff it runs through.
Licorice fern (Polypodium glycyrrhiza) is growing along this tree that fell across Ravenna Creek. I tasted it to be sure. The trail is downright gluey with mud, and I had to wash the short dog's undercarriage.

A trail winds through a grove of bare trees. The trunks are covered in moss which glows bright green in the harsh winter light. There are dark evergreens in the background making the mossy color brighter.

Several mostly blue-green lichen grow on the metal guardrail of a footbridge. There are a foliose lichen (shield lichen?) several fruticose lichen (reindeer lichen, oakmoss lichen), a moss with some cladonia growing in it and a brownish orange crustose lichen looking like some kind of rusty spot. It looks like a small garden.

These chickens of the woods (Laetiporus gilbertonii) look like large, fleshy orange-capped shelf mushrooms with creamy yellow undersides, growing on a dead trunk. These are edible and considered choice.
Chicken of the woods. This one was growing on a felled flowering plum, so it was edible.

An image of a carpet of leaves on the ground from various maple tree species slowly turning different shades of brown, from pale tan to purplish brown (aka puce)

Foliose blue-green lichen cover a fallen branch amid dead leaves on the ground. Hypogymnia spp are often called tube lichen and Platismatia are called ragbag lichen because they look so messy and disheveled There were several trees felled by the windstorms, blocking the main trails. I would guess trees fell in most of the parks because the wind were strong and from an unusual direction.

An old dead tree snag felled by a windstorm made a few critters homeless. The photo shows a weathered tree with carefully rounded nest holes and lots of insect bores. It's on the ground surrounded by branches and ground over
