This 1965 LP is one of the better Eddie Harris sessions I've heard. When I play it again, however, I will skip track 1, the single, a cover of then hit film song "The Shadow of Your Smile" which doesn't quite fit in with the overall vibe here.

The big underdog discovery for me here is a little recorded fine trumpeter named Ray Codrington, who brings out some energy I hadn't really felt in Eddie Harris' playing save for his legendary Montreux session with Les McCann years later. Good bargain bin find!
