While creating it, I recalled the lecture cycle "The Wolf and the Cross" about the collision between Christianity and paganism in my city- Vilnius, which from the past embraces many beliefs. In one of the Orthodox churches, the bodies of some of the first Lithuanian Christians: Saints Anthony, John, and Eustathius, are still preserved. In 1346, by the order of our pagan ruler Algirdas, they were executed: Eustathius was brutally tortured and hanged for refusing to follow local customs.
Thus, the work exists between suffering, emptiness, and sanctity - a silent figure.
While creating it, I pierced my fingers many times, so the piece is, quite literally, "watered" with blood, a gesture of symbolic suffering.
