Half apple cut to white showing maggot damage. Browning tunnels and pocked skin. There are even a couple of little maggots in the holes. Apple skin is crimson and you can see the seeds within the sliced core.

Overall completed watercolour showing the adult fly, both damaged apple views, and a maggot and larvae. The sheet has pencil written notes, giving verbal descriptions of both the insect and the damage it causes

The #Apple maggot Rhagoletis pomonella adult, completed for FOR Sweden, a gardening organisation.

They have "F" marks on their wings and their egg laying, plus maggot damage trashes crops

I loved painting the damaged apples, and the browning holes in the fruit.
