The community is only accessible by boat - there is no road connection to the tiny town. Updating to add - Stehekin is often right in the middle of wildfires in the summer, and it was no different over this past summer of 2025. Because of the fires, the area is surrounded by burn scars. Heavy rainfall on burn scars can cause flash flooding, bringing down debris, mud and more. By the images, that is what appears to have happened here because of the excessive rainfall in the mountains.
