A tortoiseshell cat walking determinedly towards me. She is passing a chunk of masonary (bricks and mortar) with a bit of sculpture on top, possibly a tomb marker or something.

A stocky grey tabby resting on top of a brick and stone wall. He is facing sideways, with his back to me.

The last cats, at Ostia Antica. I think this is the necroplis or the gate (lots of long grass and sunny, low stone walls.)

A ginger cat curled up on a lump of masonary, with his tail around his body. There are some other bits of masonary in the background, but mostly leaves.

Surprisingly, considering the number of cats, I don't have any good cat photos of the Torre Argentina cat sanctuary in Rome. (On the site of the theatre were Julius Caesar is supposed to have been assinated). These are the best two.

A shorthaired white and black cat sitting in a patch of sun washing its paw. (Mostly white, but for a patches of black on its head and lower back and a black blip on the end of its tail.) The footpath it sits on is stony, edged with larger stones, and in shadow except for a bright square of sun where the cat sits.
