dimitri makes the "love token" quip just for giggles but upon seeing how instantly heinrix is flustered by it he visibly sits forwards in his chair in delight at how he's going to terrorise this man (this is before they have the blow up argument about the fate of rykad, of course) #rtdimitri

These are basically the crux of a lot of their early game arguments, and why Dima all but kicks heinrix off the ship when they reach footfall. Despite it all, he feels a pang to watch him go, before he really had chance to try and change his perspective #rtdimitri

To continue to yap, heinrix thinks dimitri is extremely smart, which is why it frustrates him so badly that dima seems to insist upon being ruled by emotions not facts. Which dima then ofc argues facts are often useless when dealing with real human lives - as he is, as rt. #rtdimitri

and it’s a reason they argue a Lot at the start. Heinrix argues his empathy is a flaw to be exploited, that Dimitri doesn’t understand the way he does, so he has to correct him, he has to shield him from his Wrong view of how things are #rtdimitri

and he would have done that regardless of his romantic love for heinrix. dima shows him this in how he helps idira, doesn’t use her like theodora did, how jae’s lies about her origin make dima understand, not revile her. and even in forgiving yrliet, heinrix hates it, but ofc dima does it #rtdimitri

and he extends that love and sympathy to Heinrix in a way that says: you are a person, you are allowed to have wants and needs, you are allowed to feel and feel that what was done to you as a psyker was bad. there is no nobility in how you were made to suffer! #rtdimitri

this hadestown section is very heinrix/dima but very dimitri altogether; he not only believes in a kinder version of the galaxy but tries to use his new authority as rogue trader to actively make it come true. and heinrix calls it naive, and perhaps it is, but dimitri is going to chase it #rtdimitri

and then to be a psyker! to repay the berlosica family for taking him, for providing him with beautiful clothes and the finest lessons by having a curse that opened them up to the warp! another child should have lived, a child with the sense to be grateful enough to be normal #rtdimitri

then he was adopted out to house berlosica because the sisters realised he was never going to pass his trials, that instead he could serve as proof of redemption to the berlosicas, who had always donated generously to the ecclesiarchy. dima still not a person, but a means of redemption #rtdimitri

funniest dimitri fact is he isn’t even related to theodora his birth mother pulled the best long con of all time by stealing an aquila from a commissar #rtdimitri

he wishes that she had spoken to him, that instead they had worked together rather than walk into an obvious trap that led to the hurt of his loved ones. but he also understands why she felt she couldn't tell him, given what theodora did. #rtdimitri

for dimitri, when considering what led to commorragh he considers what achilleas did not to be a betrayal, because it was the results of breaking under torture. he does view yrliet's decision as a betrayal - BUT one he ultimately cannot fault for her, even though it hurts him #rtdimitri
