Many of the people wading through the water have small bundles tied to sticks over their shoulders, and one of the three people riding horses is clearly richer/more important than the rest, as his horse is wearing more decorative riding gear, and his clothing is brighter. There are hills and trees in the distance, behind the rectangle in the top 1/4th of the illustration that encloses the title and author. In the foreground is a nearly fully submerged green dragon, only the top of his head, eyes, and part of his nose above water. His huge body and tail are visible to the viewer under the water, but not to the people crossing the river. His spines and claws are yellow, and he appears to be simply observing what is going on. The cover is colourful and bright, despite some signs that the physical book has yellowed a bit from age.
