Next, Tove Hjørungdal presented two very visible women in Swedish archaeology: Lili Kaelas (1919-2007) and Märta Strömberg (1921-2012), both working in megalith research. She also showed a tradition of female scholars in megalith investigation #s334 #EAA2023 6/15

Reena Perschke introduced us to Erika Trautmann (1897-1968), and her work on petroglyphs. She managed to get her own expeditions in the 1930s & 1940s, but was also deeply involved in national-socialist academia of the 3rdReich #s334 #EAA2023 4/15

Ana Solter searched for female archaeologists in Croation Archaeology. About many women in archaeology, we have notes from Viktor Hoffiller (1877-1954), director of the National Museum. According to him, many were suffering from “nerves” #s334 #EAA2023 3/15

Unfortunately, the talk on women archaeologists of Ukraine had to be cancelled last minute. The speaker wanted to join digitally, but as her town got under the treat of rocket fire, internet went down. The session participants agreed to send their best wishes #s334 #EAA2023 21/22
