Bright multicolor yarn on a black background

Bright multicolor yarn on a black background

On the straw bobbins is a hank of Noro Blossom, full hank at the top. Look at that color change! After the second time I worked with yarn with a color change, I pay attention and weave (or nålbind) in the order the yarn is made. Scarf coming! #saoriweaving #weaving

Plum, teal, yellow and other yarns, shown closeup at beginning of warp. The thicker teal yarn makes a solid stripe in the hemstitching.

I like the effect of hemstitching with fat yarn. I’ll have to remember that. #weaving #saoriweaving

My last thing to do before the St Louis Park (MN) Art Show tomorrow - tagging the wovens! This pink scarf is so soft and light. It’s mostly merino, cotton, & angora. I’m really pleased with the hand towels. They are made with an organic cotton, and feel great too. #weaving #saoriweaving #handmademn

New warm winter scarves, ready for the St. Louis Park Art Fair on Saturday! The blue and purple is all wool and mohair, soft and thick. The plum is wool and more, extravagantly long. #weaving #saoriweaving #handmademn

Recently completed box knot bag, love the color combination in this one, mix of textures too.
Once again it's a great pattern from Motif Studio Patterns. This is a go to for small to medium fiber projects.

Soft pink, yellow, white, and grey handwoven on a SAORI loom, with weaving shuttles of soft yarns.

Soft pink, yellow, white, and grey handwoven on a SAORI loom, with weaving shuttles of soft yarns.

Lovely delicate colors in my current weave. One of these two yarns is primarily angora, the other merino. Other fibers join the fun too. 🙂 I am making this for the St. Louis Park, MN Art Fair on Sat, September 6. Beads will be joining the fun too, of course! #handmademn #handwoven #saoriweaving

Stripes of blue, grey, and white yarn reflected in the metal reed of a loom

Stripes of blue, grey, and white yarn reflected in the metal reed of a loom

This was kind of neat; after (finally) getting the loom fully warped, I did a few rows to get started. Then I turned off the light, and looking back in the evening sun coming through the window, saw a reflection of the warp in the metal reed. #saoriweaving

The panels represent a little bit of my and my kid’s loves at home - Matchbox books Alchemist, Phantom Tollbooth and Pachinko. Miniature pics of Mt. Rainier and St. Helens. Washington state map in bronze miniature, motorcycle, suitcase, compass and an alarm. What more do you need, eh?

Finished these a while ago, but waiting for right hangers 😛.
Design for the weave comes from traditional sarees. All three panels represent nature and childhood (Ghibli inspiration) and living and loving life in WA. Magnetic hangers (love ‘em) - bought in Etsy.

I started prepping a warp today. This is Gist organic cotton, which I haven’t used before. It feels fantastic! I hope to start dressing the loom tomorrow. #saoriweaving

Forgot to share recently completed box know bag! This is a small one perfect for a single skein project, such as socks.
I wove this fabric this time last year, so glad to take the time to use it.

A top down view of a small wooden rigid heddle loom. A navy blue scarf is on the loom. The lower section has an X themed mud cloth inspired overshot motif made with two sets of nested truangular points with openings facing up and diwn. Diamond circles on either side of where the points meet in the middle. Above is a plain weave color spectrum of smooth and textured boucle and sequined yarns roughly going from lilac to red. Several of the yarns include lilac, plum, lavender, fuchsia and scarlet to varying degrees.

I’ve recently purchased a hand knit Icelandic sweater made by Rose in Húsavík, Iceland, and a knit cowl from Makwa Studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota-and I wove a scarf and used nålbinding (Oslo) to make hats to complement them. I learn more with each project! #saoriweaving #nålbinding #nalbinding
