Today - the eldest got only as far as the school car-park and the youngest lasted only 2 lessons.

My eldest may not have gone to school all week but they’re going out to a birthday party with an irl friend tonight so I’ll take that win instead for the week.

I went in to the kid's K-6 campus by after-school appointment to bring the kid's teacher up to speed w/ the #SchoolRefusal business, so that we can contemplate a coordinated way forward; overdue. At some point will need to get the wife on board, but she regularly reaffirms her status as a liability

He got a new haircut

Writing that surprised me as I’ve never consciously aimed for that. I just want to get to know them and find out what’s going on for them.
Turns out without an agenda and with time and consistency, young people generally do want to reintegrate.

My eldest’s #schoolrefusal continues to be absolutely debilitating.

AD was happy at the weekend, had a friend to stay. Back to school avoidance with a vengeance now, won’t engage, won’t get into a routine. Heartbreaking to not be able to help her. She started counselling again yesterday, hoping to see some progress #SchoolAnxiety #KidsMH #SchoolRefusal

AD crossed the school threshold 3 times this week. 1st for our meet with head of year, then after school to spend an hour with mentor, and today for form time & first lesson. The roller coaster continues. AD hasn’t gone to school yet this year, but has more responsive at home these last couple of days. We met her head of year today and have a gradual return plan that she’s agreed to. We’ll see how it goes, and keep encouraging her #KidsMH #SchoolFear #SchoolRefusal

Another day, another refusal. AD barricaded herself in her room last night, says she hates life. School have told us they’ll no longer authorise absence without evidence of mental health issue from GP.
