One of the space suits speaks, “Not Earth, I think we’ve fallen through a #time #portal.”

In a flash, #Badger, Bob, Ems and Jon are all wishing hard enough to travel with the #Chronicle to the Great Beyond, landing, conveniently, in a heap at the feet of Ell and Roe. “Bob!”
“Ow! Ell... wait, where are we? And why am I sitting on a Badger?”

The Chronicle decides it’s time to take matters into its own pages and, as it falls towards the ground, opens a portal large enough for it, #Badger and anyone else wishing they could be elsewhere to fall through.

No matter how far #Badger runs, the #chronicle is still trying to open the #airlock #portal and every few steps the cover tries to spring apart. But Badger has no wish to travel in space. Maybe it’s not for him. Maybe it’s for someone else. He stops and drops the book.

All of it was here alone too, you try not to recall. Making your way from...parts? Nodules. Secure doors. Little devices draining life.

The portal closes as swiftly as it opened leaving bob alone on the beach. Ell is gone! He wades out into the surf, calling her name but there is no sign of her. Bob crawls back to the beach and sits wondering how he can find another #nodule.
