I'm out walking most every day and making eye contact, nodding, saying hello, and on occasion asking if the person wants to chat.
Sometimes they do!
But #SeattleFreeze is a real thing.
Sometimes i know why the #SeattleFreeze is a thing cause when you get random texts from a friend. And you dont know exactly what to say in return. For example
Was in a liquidation store and got this for .99. Generally Over $5.00 anywhere else in Seattle area. When I shared my excitement with someone in the same aisle, they were like “why are you talking to me?”. The #seattlefreeze is real people. If I was in #Brooklyn we would have deep discussions.
The #seattlefreeze knows no bounds - I'm in #puertovallarta and at my hotel is a couple from #seattle (I'm from #tacoma) I took it as a sign we should be best friends but they have not engaged w me. At all.
As a straight white woman I know it’s up to me to spark change within my own community. But it’s been my experience MAGAts, at least here in liberal Seattle, do not want to engage. Most just ghost me or are passive aggressive. Kind of lost on what to do with that. And yes, the #seattlefreeze is real
2/3 of the families are busy. The other one hasn't responded.
These are all folks we knew from elementary or outside of school, and my kid's not even going to HS with them. One of them reached out and was like "hey, we should get together - tell us all the (high school) knowledge!"
