calem scratches the cat's head and says "when did you get back home..?" as he starts to undress himself, the cat stretches. when he takes his shirt off, the cat is now sylvan, laying on the bed in a humanoid form. calem sits down beside sylvan, who collapses dramatically in his arms. calem grins happily.

himmel the hero telling frieren that part of his motivation in getting so many statues made of himself was so she wouldn’t be alone really sticks with me. calem is also like this for sylvan, in that much of his legacy was to build something for it, but it’s far more ungrateful about it #secondborn

sylvan and calem’s relationship is so interesting. only one of them is an actual person. the one who isn’t a person barely considers the other a person. calem is more a pet or a possession than a partner or lover, but sylvan is just as often a spoiled teenager who needs to be reigned in #secondborn
