According to my favorite dictionary, Merriam-Webster, vibrant is an adjective that can mean bright but also can mean pulsating with life and vigor. I am no botanist, so I am just guessing this flower growing out of a dreary rock crevice in the northern California foothills near Colfax is a form of the succulent Dudleya. It is bright and vigorous without anyone tending to it.
