So, first his beak is shut. If he is, indeed, singing, he must be between singing phrases. Grant me this reasonable possibility. Two, do Red-winged Blackbirds really “sing”? This is a fair criticism as RWBs vocalizations sound more like an old-fashioned robot from the movies, like C-3PO. Still, lots of birds are not very melodic. I think RWBs sing — in their way. Third, was this bird even in the process of singing when I took this photo? I say “yes” from memory. This male was in fully display “dating” mode. I remember him singing his little heart out. So, while not a classic singer, I think this handsome fellow qualifies for today’s prompt.
