🥇This means the case would’ve ended irrespective of it being branded a #SLAPP, but the Court went further to find that @danneidle.bsky.social was “entitled to a declaration that Mr Kamal’s claim is a statutory SLAPP”. This is the 1st application of new anti-SLAPP legislation passed in 2023.

⚖️ Before turning to the #SLAPP question, the Judge found that parts of Setu Kamal’s claims were not based on reasonable grounds, were an abuse of process and didn’t even comply with the rules on bringing libel claims. Ultimately, the judge concluded the claim was “bad in law and certain to fail”.
