A female Northern Shoveler in side view looking serene in shallow water with lovely soft light on her against a dark background. A mostly brown and tan duck with feathers arranged in beautiful patterns. Speckles on the head and neck become ever larger scallops on the breast and belly back to the tail. Top and wing feathers are warm brown tones edged with white and the back tail feathers are white. She has some russet tones on her flanks and her very large spatula-shaped beak is very warm brown with orange at its edges. Her reflection is broken by the water's ripples. The water color is similar in tones and compliments the duck. She has what I call a Zen look to her so the image feels very peaceful and quiet.

This beautiful falcon is actually an education ambassador for a Peregrine Falcon project here in Minnesota. I always love to see her and moreso to have her grace my glove for a few hours during an education program.
