Larder by Orla McAndrew is a wonderful book to have on hand, especially if you are, like me, a terrible one for buying interesting looking tins & jars of foodie things. Very practically, it groups recipes under the main food item you have - like artichokes, or frozen peas, eggs or pasta. The book is a lovely object in itself, handily sized and brimming with charming illustrations.

As my little kitchen opens directly onto my little bit of garden, I like to have a natural history book in it; Wonders of the Wild by Êanna Ní Lamhna & Brian Fitzgerald is funny yet informative delight.
