3 exciting finds at #PineTier! 3 of #Tasmania's marsupial carnivores, the #spottedtailedquoll, #easternquoll and the #Tasmaniandevil, have been photographed as part of our ongoing ecological monitoring.
Both quoll species are protected under the EPBC Act, with populations in the wild on the decline.

Night-vision (black and white) photo, taken from the side, of a sleek mammal on a fallen log in a forest. Its head is down, sniffing the log. Its tail, which is as long as its body, is held out behind it with a bend 2/3 of the way down. The body, legs and tail are covered with white spots of various size.

I just checked the camera at the quoll spot we have a new young one. By comparing unique spot patterns I've identified at least 21 individual spotted-tailed quolls in the three years we've lived here.
