Galen: Most Overworked Healer in the History of Dragonet City
Sasha: Most Unnecessarily Grumpy Guard in Dragonet City
(Using these awards to drag them 😅)

"What, Helen? What is so important in your little world, right now, that you need to be so far up my ass that you're practically peaking out through my eyes?" Helen opens her mouth again to answer, but Ronnie cuts her off. It felt good to go off on this kid, for once. "What!?"

All My Colors's main character, Todd Milstead. Fuck that guy, but also, I get it. You're a white, mediocre man who thinks greatness is owed to you, and you don't do the work required to achieve it.
I am also a lazy fuck, but at least I'm not named Todd.

Here is a moment between Michael, his boyfriend and girlfriend.
Love triangles are boring, so let’s do Poly!
-For context, Tommy isn’t Eve’s boyfriend, they’re polycule
The description here is important but the pay off comes a lot later. Let’s just say this isn’t the last that Kara, from All Vamps, No Stakes will see of these places. The town of Bend earns its name #SSFChat
I don’t really put much emphasis on setting in my writing or reading. I can’t really think of a scene or a story where the setting really made an impact on me. #SSFChat
Q4: The conditions were perfect for drawing a spirit: the pomegranate tree stood for forty years at the top of the hill, overlooking the wadi and its village far, far below. #SSFChat

Q3: Saladin Ahmed’s short story Without Faith Without Love Without Joy.
It’s a short story about the Muslim characters trapped inside Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene. #SSFChat
#SSFChat Intro: Hi! Call me Alex! I'm 26 years old, (mutuals won't believe this) very shy, and frankly new to being a serious creator. I wish you all peace and harmony.
Big achievement! I wrote a book! Very indie formatting, but I hope to have the work speak for itself lol
💙😊
#SSFChat A2: I've known a rough outline of how the story ends for a long time, but I'm not going to fill out the details until the rest of the story is written. The ending of TEC will be big, but also maybe anticlimactic in a way.
#SSFChat A1: An ending should make you feel a sense of completion, but the journey is where it's at for me as both a reader and writer.
Hard science is realistic. It’s based on our current scientific knowledge and follows all the rules. Soft bends the rules or just uses general ideas. Soft magic is just author hand waves do what you like for fun and make story worky. Hard magic is science of a different universe. #SSFChat
Otar would be the one character that is *never* there. You know the one you always go and check if they have finally arrived, only to met with a sign or empty spot, and you despair of ever seeing them? Yes, that one.

Hahaha depends on who you ask and when you ask.
Taylah lives outside of time so she goes whenever she wants.
Krythlan's dad is from 130 years in the past - that can't cause any issues surely.
The multiverse teens get to experience so many different versions of reality so 🤷

Graphic of a snippet from a book My hair, which was normally jet black with blue highlights, was a horrible orangey brown and the blue had gone a turquoise green.
#SSFChat day 7. Snippet: orange.
From Shit That Happened Before 2011, releasing March 2026.
Steph dyed his hair. Badly.
SSFChat 26. Emotion your character struggles with
Alakshi’s shaking voice was barely above a whisper: “Can I have a hug?” All this connecting with other people was really freaking Gallara out, but as scary as it was to realize she cared about someone, it also felt kind of … meaningful? And Alakshi’s ribs weren’t broken this time. Oh, for crying out loud. “Sh-sure, of c-” She tried not to groan or pass out as Alakshi squashed her, and clumsily put her pained arms around the wild girl’s shoulders. She wondered if her own ribs would give way, but it would only be fair if they did. Alakshi eventually eased up a bit, then let go and heaved a sigh. “Thanks, Gallara. I … I really appreciate it.” Gallara took a deep gasp, trying to be subtle about it. “No problem,” she lied. “That’s what friends do, right?” If friendship meant having conversations like this all the time, she wasn’t sure if having any was actually a good idea.
#SSFChat
Gallara has gotten used to social isolation and struggles with any kind of connection with other people. Emotional closeness, being relied on, and any kind of vulnerability scare her.

To accompany the ScifiSeptember snip, have a glimpse of Bast's reaction to the attack on Alstair. At this point, he's spent perhaps a total of 4 hours with the man. It may not have been love at first sight, but it was certainly at first understanding.
Pog is in-work slang for aristocrat
"Starling steps out onto the stage. She’s small, eyes-down, timid. Her dress is a myriad of
layers, made up of thin, iridescent pieces. When she walks it rolls like the shore."

I am absolutely starting out! Even from work a year ago I can see the improvement in cohesion and satisfying narrative arcs. My focus at the moment is boiling these broader story beats down to efficient, impactful scenes

2. Gonna be honest. Not really. I do recall having a very unnerving dream about Cthulhu recently-ish, and my friend going off to fight weird monsters and I was quite worried, but it just wasn't writing material.😅
#SSFChat Aug 10th: share something visual
Here are a couple of moodboards for Speak Its Name that I'm currently in love with
#SSFChat 8
I'm currently reading Castaways by Craig Scahefer and The Mangle Street Murders by M.R.C. Kasasian on audiobook.
I’m quite proud of the opening to Skin Dolls. It needs a little work but I wanted to start straight into a gig to show what all the characters are about in their element. It contrasts nicely with the climax scene too. #SSFChat
I’m currently rereading through Mary Fan’s Starswept trilogy. The setting is limited to three places basically. A musical school on Earth, the homes of the alien patrons and a musical theatre. Considering the story it seems apt. #SSFchat
Hi! I'm Cat and I write queer dark fantasy and horror!
Spencer probably had a short brunette woman for a late supper, if I'm being honest
No, not like *that!* He's a vampire! But also probably like that too, depending on her name 😘

#SSFChat Q3: I seriously need to read more, but I just read @gabriellabuba.bsky.social ‘s Daughters of Flood and Fury and I adore Inez and her emotional journey. It was the highlight of the entire book getting to see her learn to live again after all that ☆TRAUMA☆
#SSFChat Q1: I love internal conflicts! External conflicts can be great spectacles but I always end up feeling like the internal conflicts are necessary before characters can reach them.
Or maybe I find them a little more relatable :p
#SSFChat 9:
As much as I love dragons, my favorite fantasy creature has to be the hippogriff, 1000%. So freakin cool.
#SSFChat The 10th
Alistair is incredibly reckless. This man hears a horrible flesh creature attacking someone (maybe) a hops up to go fight it by himself without waiting for anyone to come help him. In the middle of the night. With no light. He gambles with his life damn near constantly.
