Bosse runs the association for S/S Orion. Bridge is under renovation and construction. It was -5C freezing winter day thus clothing accordingly.
Original steering hut is very small as usual. As the bridge was later closed this was turned into a radio cabinet.
Latest in tech. About 100 years ago.
Original life boat is still around. Not really sure if I would trust my life to this...
The bridge used to be open but was later converted to a closed bridge. Original brass and smal details still on place. This makes S/S Orion spectacular!

Few valves to work on, handily at your feet. Ergonomics or safety was not high in priority back 1929.
Pressure steampump and more valves for managing the water and steam flows. Lots on love in polishing the shiny bits, too.
Direction lever in the middle of the compound steam engine. Now set on reverse. Note various notches for forward setting, used to tune slider timing for pressure and speed optimization.
In 1929 S/S Orion was run on coal, then turned in to diesel. The association is now looking to convert back to coal. Original boiler is in good condition.

There is a handy makeshift workshop on deck right outside of the engige room. Pretty much anything one needs to run an old ship.

Had some spare time in Stockholm over this weekend. Visited S/S Orion, former royal inspection steamship, now an enthusiast association.
Orion can be visited weekends 12:00-15:00 free of charge.
