The former #miner (now a #staker) has staked their mining equipment with a central entity (the mining pool #operator).

Interestingly, this type of #mining pool arrangement becomes very similar to a #PoS system with respect to the tendency of the network to centralize. In essence, the miner who shipped their equipment to a pool operator has relinquished their status as a miner, and has now become a #staker.
