Today I buried three pieces of pottery to begin with the second phase of ‘Humedad’ proof of concept. If the results are good… will have a win for this year :)

A laptop, a FTIR equipment and some tools ready to do some pottery analysis in the lab.

This week I learned how to use FTIR at @pollutedpast-erc.bsky.social lab, as part of the preliminary work with the new protocol for provenance analysis. Really loved this lab time (and the results, that unexpectedly opened new hypothesis). What a 2026 is coming!

#stoplooting

Los Angeles mayor imposes curfew on downtown following increased nighttime violence Mayor Karen Bass has issued a curfew for downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday “to stop the vandalism, to stop the looting.”

Why do some people always see a righteous #uprising as an excuse to steal and destroy?! They belittle and mock others who believe in resisting #tyranny in all forms, and give tyrants excuses to use excessive #force against them. KNOCK IT OFF!!! 🤬🤬 #resist #stoplooting

A selfie in which I am in a lab, dressed up, taking a sample from a piece of pottery. On the left it’s me, with protection glasses and lab coat. On the right, the mill and the piece of pottery with the dust for the sample.

Today I finally became a real scientist with my lab coat (mine!) and all. Practising the sampling protocol for the new project… let’s try to help #stoplooting

Spain: No Country for Furtive Detectorism | International Journal of Cultural Property | Cambridge Core Spain: No Country for Furtive Detectorism

Last week, my first paper at @cretus.usc.gal came out! Together with Ignacio Rodriguez Temiño we value the Spanish response to furtive detectorism as an alternative to the liberal model. #stoplooting Read it! It’s #openaccess and just the first of new research on looting and illicit trade!

This late 7th century Harihara, combining the gods Shiva and Vishnu comes from pre-Angkor #Cambodia. The Kimbell Art Museum in USA bought it in 1988 after Douglas Latchford had sold it to a London dealer. It should be repatriated, full-stop. #stoplooting

Treasure Hunters Pose Problems for Archaeologists Two scholars discuss the challenges of accurately studying underwater archaeological heritage—among them, unauthorized acquisitions.

Looting archaeological sites destroys the context of the artifacts, which is crucial for scientific understanding. Archaeologists care about the relationships, not the objects. #SaveHeritage #StopLooting #Archaeology www.sapiens.org/archaeology/...
