About a month ago, I've started a hashtag here on bsky about this very topic: #stoptoxicgaming

If you'd like to spread the word of a better gaming community, then please use it! Specially when you're giving some advice on being better internet fellows... or if you want to report bad behavior!

I've made (or at least, tried to foster) a hashtag that also brings this topic: #stoptoxicgaming

If you have advice on better conduct and practices about gaming in social media, or want to report something that you judge deserving of our attention, please tag it!

I'll add your post to #stoptoxicgaming

We need more ppl to be willing to share gaming, instead of gatekeep it

Enjoy yourself and your game. Internet gives us access to global potential, thus its easier for us to compare ourselves with "the best"

But in life, the real important thing is to be "your best". The rest is just noise

I surely has! But we also have a (fairly new) value in video games creating community, and this "love to explain" is just one way to manifest that too

I hate "spoilers" and would lean to the self-discover experience but I can see the value in the opposite approach also

This! I dare say this is not exclusive to game/dev, but overall internet culture

We need better culture of respecting our own tastes, different opinions, and constructive criticism overall

If you think about ways to fight this tendency, let us know!

hang on!

"normal" isn't a given, so even a bad behavior can become "normal

"mental illness" is something better reserved for cientific talk. Using it as shit talk is as toxic as the behavior you're against

Still, nice topic you bring. Lets have a healty(ier) discussion about it!

games are for fun, not obligation

For us to reach completion, a game must be engaging enough for its lenght. Sometimes the gameplay isn't fun enough, sometimes the game is just too long for comfort

But in no case you should feel guilty by not being their audience

A "not great" game may still be good game

We need to put back nuance in our negative feedback

Effective communication rarely relies on irony, disrespect or venting. If you want to criticize a gaming partner for the betterment of a game performance, using constructive criticism is better for your own objective.

Hope that helps!

Gaming as a hobby is about having a good time. It also means to "waste time" because thats the purpose of a hobby. Calling gaming a "waste of time" is meaningless, even if you lost a match of a competitive game, or was unable to achieve something in the game. Be chill!
