The radio ep is pretty strong so I'm confused as to why this story has been neglected for 100 years.

The announcement at the end implies Radio ep #8 "Mysterious Mickey Finn" didn't air 17-Jun-47 and it aired the week after this ep, so probably 12-Aug-47 or 05-Aug-47. All of which throws the numbering out?
Who knows?

This precedes the 1948 US Movie.

#StudioOne With the imminent closure of @cbsnews.com Radio after 98 years a reminder that "Studio One" is named after CBS's Studio #1 located on the 22nd floor of 485 Madison Avenue New York which opened in 1929.
By 1947 when this series was made it was still in use for Radio right up until 1964.

Another great comedy drama. This adapts the play by Philip Barry (26-Nov-1928). Which in between was adapted twice into a movie (03-Jul-30 and 15-Jun-38).
Very listenable. I can imagine Katherine Hepburn in this as she starred in the second movie.

This ep the publicity seeking star is English actor Charles Laughton in an adaptation of C.S. Forester's Novel "Payment Deferred" (1926).
He had actually already starred in both the play adaptation (1931) and the film adaptation (07-Nov-32) of the novel!

The great thing about Radio is that chat shows and celebs being themselves wasn't properly invented till TV did so in the early 1950s. So actors to promote their new movies used to have to appear in an actual Radio drama as their publicity!

Adapts Ellen Gholson Glasgow's novel (1926).
This novel seems to have been neglected in modern times. I'm unsure why but the radio ep is again quite a strong engaging comedy.

I haven't heard of any of these books for the most part but these Radio eps are pretty strong and hopefully are good compliments to the source material.

Adapts Noel Coward's play (1924) but it has been transplanted to Long Island or maybe New England somewhere instead of England but I expect little else has been changed.
Nice fun adaptation of a very amusing play.
