Talking #SocialNetworks at @insna.bsky.social #Sunbelt2025 in Paris! We had a great week discussing the latest research on SNA and learn about approaches from many different academic disciplines.

Just returned from @sunbelt2025paris.bsky.social
where I presented work with Prof. Ross Stolzenberg on district court citational networks.
A pleasure to attend Sunbelt with colleagues and alumni from Purdue and some “old friends” from NetSci!

Had a great week at #Sunbelt2025 at La Sorbonne & Sciences Po, Paris. Sharing research, meeting with friends and colleagues old and new. And getting in some spectacular early morning runs along the Seine. Looking forward to next time.
View up to the ornate ceiling of the entrance hall of the Grand Amphitheatre de Sorbonne
A marble staircase leads up to the second floor of the entrance hall of the Grand Amphitheatre de Sorbonne including an ornate tessellated ceiling and a cast iron lantern on the side. Dark wall paintings in the background
Side view of the Grand Amphitheatre de Sorbonne as people wanting to listen to the conference keynote are filing in
View from the 24th floor of the tower Zamansky on Sorbonne campus with spectacular views of the Seine, Notre Dame cathedral and Sacre Coeur in the background. Sunny skies with some clouds make the urban fabric of Paris shine
TFW your #Sunbelt2025 experience is glorious already - connecting with old friends, meeting new faces, learning about cool science - but then the architectural settings are just spectacular
Well played, Paris 😎
Nothing like having your Social Networks article (as seen at #Sunbelt2024) published while attending #Sunbelt2025!
The Grand Amphithéâtre of @sorbonne-universite.fr is definitively not a bad venue for a the keynote session of @sunbelt2025paris.bsky.social #Sunbelt2025
As we’re waiting for Beate Völker’s #Sunbelt2025 @insna.bsky.social keynote on social capital in #SocialNetworks:
Her renowned paper w/ Flap on why in totalitarian regimes, people don’t feel united — even when they can rely on each other.

After a pretty gruesome train ride, finally arrived in Paris for #sunbelt #sunbelt2025. Can’t wait to hear about all the amazing network studies. Shoot me a message if you want to meet or catch up!
If you’re at #Sunbelt2025, come join our session tomorrow afternoon on Networks, Philanthropy, and Social Impact!!
Looking forward to a great lineup of presentations
After a full day on trains (thank you, NS and Eurostar 😖), finally made it to the #Sunbelt2025 (and already met four old friends in the first 15 minutes)
Just attended the #WordsAndNetworks session at #Sunbelt2025 — such a fantastic opportunity to learn and connect!
💡I came away with fresh insights into how #TextAnalysis and #NetworkScience intersect to reveal patterns in language use, information diffusion, and social interaction.
Really enjoyed your #sunbelt2025 talk - great way to open the conference
First day of #sunbelt2025 and I am already done with my presentation on an algorithm constructing organic neighborhoods with #geodata. Looking forward to the remaining 4.5 conference days in beautiful Paris!

Paris, croissants, and network science! 🌐✨
Presenting at #Sunbelt2025 on how domain-level signals help fact-checkers outsmart misinformation.
Vive la vérité!

The title slide of the presentation. The text says, Network change and loneliness during the transition into university.
Really enjoyed presenting online at the
@sunbelt2025paris.bsky.social conference today! I shared our research on how students’ social networks shift during the transition to university. Grateful to everyone who came, listened, and asked such thoughtful questions!

🚀 What a start to INSNA #Sunbelt2025!
Today’s workshop, “SBS BI: Mastering the Analysis of Words and Networks”, led by @andreafc.com and Roberto Vestrelli, delivered fresh insights and powerful tools for combining #SocialNetworkAnalysis with #TextMining.

📣 La #Sunbelt2025 commence aujourd’hui !
It takes a lot of planning but I'm excited to go and make it work 💃🏼
If you meet me there:
😷 mask up if you can
🪫 ask me about my energy levels (always good to be reminded by friends) and
🤐 expect me to step out of conversations when it gets too much. Not a sign of disinterest
#Sunbelt2025
I will #WearAMask (because #CovidIsNotOver) and compression socks, bring my handheld HEPA filter as well as a foldable chair to sit down in coffee breaks as some of my mitigation measures. Plus taking regular breaks
#Sunbelt2025 #InvisibleDisability
It will also be my first full blown conference attendance since developing #LongCovid so I will have to pace and manage my energy like the strictest school teacher
#Sunbelt2025 #InvisibleDisability
I'm talking in one of three sessions on Spatial and Geographic Social Networks organised by Clio Andris, @zpneal.bsky.social, Paul Schuler and Gil Viry - excited about so many lovely talks with a spatial angle
#Sunbelt2025
First two slides of my Sunbelt conference talk entitled "Analysing space usage processes through a dual network lens" The first one (top) has a background photo with people sitting, standing and chatting in the foyer of a research building with a large central staircase. A group of three is overlaid with orange silhouettes and black dots with connections between them to highlight a network relationship. The second slide (bottom) cites Ron Breigers 1974 paper on network duality and shows a series of black silhouettes connected to calender icons to symbolise event attendance of women. This is transferred to space by showing the silhouettes in colour alongside a floor plan with coloured traces for the paths they might travel
My own #Sunbelt2025 talk will be on Saturday 28th July (10am local time, room 112 - in case you're there 👋🏻) and will discuss space usage processes in buildings as a two-mode network between people and spaces (see the slide alt text for more info)
#SocialNetworkAnalysis
Excited to be travelling to Paris next week (train obviously) to attend @sunbelt2025paris.bsky.social conference of @insna.bsky.social
It's my first Sunbelt since 2019 and I'm really looking forward to connecting with people and learning about latest research
#Sunbelt2025 #SocialNetworkAnalysis
Will try to make it - really looking forward to #Sunbelt2025
