Summary:
It was late in the evening when he noticed he was being followed. Two people, one man and one child from the sounds of their heartbeats. They lurked out of sight, but he could hear them, could feel them watching him.
For hours, they followed him, from rooftop to rooftop. Clark usually went home in between helping people, tried to get some sleep. He wasn't batman, didn't feel the need to micromanage Metropolis the way the bat did Gotham. He couldn't argue with Batman's results of course—he did impressive work, would probably be a good teammate if Clark ever needed to call in backup again, but their styles were very different. Tonight, Clark took a leaf out of the bat's playbook, stayed out for hours, if only to avoid leading these people to his home.
Finally, as night drew on, Clark had enough. He flew to the building where he heard the heartbeats and landed right in front of them.
Or, twenty years after their first meeting, Clark Kent and Bruce Wayne cross paths again.
