Where it works - like #Iceland - it works well.
Keep an eye on #supercriticalCO2 and on #thermocouple technology as two ways better than brine or steam to move heat upwards. Thermocouples are not efficient but ultra simple so cheaper to put in place if not to make. sCO2 more efficient but complex.

China replaced #coal plants with much higher pressure steam and now #supercriticalCO2 turbines. These are to be ready for #thorium once it or #p11b or #1NS is cheap enough. However those may never be cheap enough & pre-supercritical turbines will be obsolete if it is.

Even thermal is maturing. New insulators let molten salt sit safely at 800C with the outside environment at about 80C. This is perfect for heating buildings or water too.
It can even be used in large vehicles but I'd like to see #supercriticalCO2 turning the heat into motion. Or a #StirlingEngine.
