Ah, surrealism, that very infamous genre of fine art which provides us an uncanny and realistic line between what is real and what isnโt, much like our dreams, nightmares, or the things our mind shows us in our subconscious. So Behold โBendaryl Dreams.โ When looking at this, it looks like something you would see after you took some meds, dozed off, and had a nightmare. Well, that is the point Iโm trying to communicate, well, for me at least. I want people viewing this to wonderโฆ what the hell am I looking at? The vast, empty, barren desert landscape, which was inspired by old Salvador Dali works and Brent Wong paintings, is filled with some rather liminal-looking structures, like an old gas station you may have driven past on a road trip, or a very distant church which you may have seen. But to add that surrealist twist, some trees and cacti look like neon lights, there are cracks on the ground, a strange black portal that has a dark hallway with pipes coming out of it that are spewing out blood, which is taken from a recurring nightmare I keep having, A strange figure inside the dark hallway, a big eyeball in the evening sky where the sun should be setting, the type of birds that you and I have both drawn when we were little, and the benadryl hat man himself, makes an appearance. I gave myself the most creative liberties I have ever used yet for an art project because of the digital art medium, which I am too familiar with, because itโs the main one I personally use. The only struggle I had with this was trying to make it look realistic, but thatโs easier said than done. I used my knowledge of color theory to add filters and blends to give it a certain tint that reminded me of old varnished paintings & I gave a canvas-like texture to the final piece when it was done.

My first real artwork of 2026! This was for an assignment in my art class, and Iโm actually proud with how weird and realistic this turned out for what my art skills are currently at now
