Its bonkers to me looking at the GPS uplift under the Blue Lagoon/Svartsengi Power station right now. Every time the volcano nearby erupts, the ground drops over 30 cm, and as it refills, it gains another 5 cm that it can rise.

#Magma under #Svartsengi in #Iceland reached 11 million cubic metres, just as the Icelandic Met Office had predicted. That is the same amount that escaped from Svartsengi in the last eruption. The likelihood of a new #eruption therefore increases.

The likelyhood of a new #eruption at #svartsengi in #Iceland has increased. As of today, it is assessed that the lower bound of 11 million m3 is reached today and the upper bound of 23 million m3 on 18 December. The Orange color is when earlier eruptions took place.
