My #1 of 2025
Steven Wilson, The Overview. For those that followed along with #SWeptember this should come as no surprise. The ambition and execution of this conceptual journey through the cosmos exceeded my already high expectations. Onto 2026!
In this regard extremely grateful to @mikestetter.bsky.social for organising #SWeptember which gave us all #SWfans an opportunity to refresh his discography and also to @skylabtapes.bsky.social @cyclesinthedark.bsky.social - the hard core SW fans and others for their timely posts/inputs.

Another magical concert last night to conclude my adventure with SW 🔥🔥🔥
It was very nice to have a much different second set. The show had a very different flow as you can tell again by the photos!

My #1 pick for #SWeptember is Drive Home, off The Raven That Refused to Sing.
My love affair with SW began with this masterpiece, and album. It features one of the best guitar solos, ever, and incredible performances from the whole band. It’s very approachable and my go-to for those new to SW.
#SWeptember winds down in one week 😢
However in next couple days I’ll reveal results of the ™️Definitive Steven Wilson Solo Song Ranking! Consider this last call for the procrastinators to submit your top 10 asap!
My #2 pick for #SWeptember
is The Raven That Refused to Sing, off the album of the same name. One of the greatest albums of 21st century and maybe, ever, for me.
A hauntingly beautiful song, that slowly builds into a powerhouse. SW vocals on point, Beggs’ swirling Bass, the strings; perfect!
And to be very clear, the show had zero impact on my ranks for #SWeptember
My #3 pick for #SWeptember
is Home Invasion/Regret #9, off
Hand. Cannot. Erase.
I mean… does it get much better? Absolute monster of a tune. Filled with SW wonder and an incredible band. One of the greatest guitar solos ever recorded by Mr. Govan! Love the trading with Adam at the end. Pure 🔥
My #4 pick for #SWeptember
is Ancestral, off Hand. Cannot. Erase.
From the gentle start to the explosive metal ending, what’s not to love about this song? It’s got all the elements that make an amazing SW tune, all in one 14 min package.
Either which way, I really appreciate you taking the lead and making #SWeptember a smashing success! And super fun! And met some new music folks! And made me post more! And smile!
Top 4 incoming… I know two as of now for sure, I’m going to have to really grind to decide on the other two. 🤘
My #5 pick for #SWeptember
is People Who Eat Darkness, off To The Bone. Or Home Invasion: Live.
Hardest pick yet! HM Detonation, Nowhere Now. Such an incredible album.
Love the raw feel of this tune. Grooves hard. While I’m not a lyrically driven music lover, I love the lyrics on this one&Ninet!

During the course of #SWeptember , discovered couple of SW gems more in detail - Insurgents and GFD both turned out to be dark horse albums for me...
#SWeptember came to a close for me last night at the beautiful Auditorium Theater here in Chicago! We got the ”other“ setlist which was cool because it differed from what we saw in LA. Steven & band were super dialed in & high energy all night - amazing show again, wish I could do the whole tour!!!

For my top 6 I’m going to do my best to choose two tracks off each of my favorite albums. No easy feat!
My #6 pick for #SWeptember
is Pariah, off To The Bone. (Not Routine)
Incredibly moving song, that really resonates with me. Ninet has such a smoky, powerful voice. Blends wonderfully with SW.

Amazing professional shots of the Steven Wilson show I saw in LA this week!

Show last night was absolutely amazing. I abided by the no-photo policy so the only things I can share are these pics of a guy in a hot dog suit beside the queue to get in, as well as this trippy wormhole installation that I passed on my walk back to downtown hotel, which was befitting.

(The pre-show PA set is fire!!! “Spirit of the Age”, “War of the Worlds”, etc)
My #7 pick for #SWeptember
is Staircase, off The Harmony Codex.
Near 10 minutes of beautiful organized chaos. Really love this tune, takes a you on a ride!
(Have fun tonight Mike!!!)

#SWeptember #MusicChallenge may be over but playing @stevenwilsonhq.bsky.social is a continuous occupation! Most days THC is my favourite SW album, so Harmonic Distortion was a worthwhile addition with some decent reworkings
